Room 16's Social Goals

In preparation for our goal setting conferences on Monday, Room 16 came up with many "social" goals. We discussed the importance of goal setting for each curriculum subject, as well as the importance of having a social goal - something that we could aim to do whether it be in the classroom or in the playground.

We decided we would call these goals:
"Ways to improve our behaviour and be the best person we can be"

In the slideshow below I have included Room 16's classroom treaty, this is something we all agreed on at the beginning of the term. We frequently read our treaty to remind us of the sorts of things we should be doing in Room 16.

Check out out our goals below - all of these ideas will definitely make school a happy place!

Room 16 loves to write!

Room 16 are loving our regular writing sessions each day! It is wonderful to see each child becoming more confident in their writing ability. Today we wrote predictions on what was in "Miss Glen's Mystery Bag". We had lots of fun guessing what it could be, we had all sorts of ideas - from lollipops to car keys, toys to lipstick!

Enjoy the photos below :)

Happy Valentines Day

Happy Valentines Day from Room 16
Smiling while we hold our cake pops!
Today we enjoyed a lovely Valentines Day spent writing letters to the people we love and making yummy Valentines Day themed cake pops! It was fabulous to see the children getting really excited about decorating their cake pops with icing and sprinkles.

We had a class discussion about what we thought Valentines Day was all about, here are some of our ideas:

Valentines Day is about...

"Being with people special to us" - Coraleigh

"Being with friends" - Caleb Burrett

"Loving someone" - Cherize

"Being nice to your friends" - Dylan

"Showing people we love them" - Hannah

"Being respectful to your family" - Caleb Botting

"Loving your family" - Millar

"Writing nice cards to your family" - Ashleigh

"Being happy" - Bentley

This discussion was followed by letter writing to someone we love.

Here is a beautiful example:

We continued on with our Valentines Day theme to decorate our awesome cake pops. We all loved getting to spread our bright pink icing over the cake which we decorated with hundreds and thousands and heart shapes sprinkles.

Didn't we do well?

If you would like a copy of your child with their cake pop, please email me - I would be more than happy to send you a copy.

I hope you have all enjoyed your Valentines Day as much as we have!

Welcome back to a new school year and a brand new classroom

Welcome to Room 16's classroom blog - a little sneak peak into what's happening in our room this year!

How lucky are we to have such a beautiful new classroom, this innovative new space is going to create such a positive environment for some awesome learning to take place.

Below we have our very first artworks, the children had so much fun getting creative spending the afternoon of our first day decorating these funky sunglasses.
